This month is all about Women. We celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 and Mother’s Day on March 11. With the recent 100-year anniversary of a women’s right to vote, it is now more relevant than ever to celebrate and empower the women in our life. This month Paddington offers Politics, Play and ways to Empower all you lovely ladies and lady lovers out there.
Politics
To mark International Women’s Day, The Frontline Club is hosting a discussion on the various diaspora of migrant women in the UK and the challenges of integration that they face in the light of Brexit, the European migration crisis and a tightening of immigration policies.
The panel will explore various challenges such as: What do migrant women sacrifice when they leave their homeland? Is the backlash against migrants justified? And how might we empower migrant women specifically in various communities, industries and societies throughout the UK? Tickets are in hot demand, to book your ticket please click here.
Play
Get competitive over a game of giant chess or ping pong in Norfolk Square gardens and then make her feel like a million dollars with a trip to luxury chocolatiers Saint Aymes in Connaught Village where you can find great coffee, 23ct gold hot chocolate, enchanting cakes and the most decadent of chocolates.
After all that indulgence, spend the afternoon walking it off in the stunning Connaught Village and be spoilt for choice with a unique array of fashion, art, antiques, home design and independent shops.
Empowerment
Be the captain of your own ship or in this case GoBoat. Back in action on March 3 just in time for Mother’s Day, as flowers blossom and ducklings start to appear - what better way to celebrate the woman that raised you than by getting her to charter a boat to her own destiny from Paddington.
Alternatively, inspire her with something new like riding lessons from the Hyde Park Stables, perhaps she will discover a new-found freedom, with the wind blowing through her hair. Or take the plunge and treat her to a dip in the Serpentine Lido in Hyde Park, re-opening in May.
Most importantly these are all things you can do together, because let’s face it the best thing about women is the conversation that is inspired by just being together. Friends, lovers, mothers, sisters, daughters, let’s make this month about you through politics, play and empowerment in Paddington.
