Burns Night 2023
Burns Night is a staple of Scottish tradition that has been adopted into British culture, and for good reason.
Robert Burns, born in 1759, was a renowned Scottish poet and lyricist who wrote his prose in both English and Scots dialect. After years of turmoil he eventually found fame with his book “Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect” which received praise from both simple country folk and Edinburgh socialites alike.
Burns Night is now celebrated annually on the anniversary of his birthday, 25th January, with a traditional Scottish supper and music all hailing from his homestead areas and is celebrated throughout Scotland and the United Kingdom.
